Thnks Fr Th Mmrs

For all of you who might be wondering about the title, interesting spelling right? Haha it is very unlike me for purposely misspelling words, "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" is actually a title of a song performed by the band Fall Out Boy. For those who still have not able to figure out, the proper version of it is "Thanks for the Memories". I chose this to be my post title just because to make it more memorable. A lot of things happened throughout this year, good and bad. And we are in the time of the year (maybe not everybody, at least for me) to flashback our lives--the last month of the year, December. But not just any ordinary December, this very date 12/12/12 is the last repeating date of the century! (Well I am quite sure everybody aware of that!)

If you read my previous post then I am sure that you know I am currently in my final year of uni. If you are wondering about how it is like, I have just the perfect word to describe it--T.O.U.G.H!! phew~ and oh ya, regarding the follow up of my animal ethics proposal, it has been approved! No reduction of animal number and so I can go on with my research as I have planned, yippee! However getting the approval was no easy task, I became the impromptu representative to propose to the ethics committee. I was so nervous I could faint! But my group mates are the most amazing, they gave their supports and also defended me when the committee members were showing their fangs!

It is never too late to learn to appreciate the wonderful things in life, one of them is jazz music. What? Jazz music is for the oldies! Honestly, that was what I thought before I get the chance of attending live jazz concert at the marvellous Petronas Philharmonic Hall. At first, the free tickets attracted me into it (who never likes free stuff right?haha) but I was mesmerized once the show started. The combination of guitar, violin, banjo guitar, piano, organ, and bass guitar, and not to mention the amazing talents of some good looking gentlemen and a twist of their mellow voice...it was 90 minutes of total awesomeness!!!

I always feel lucky because I am blessed with great friends around me. I had the best birthday celebration this year because I cannot ask for more valuable gift than the efforts of my friends to make it as memorable as possible. My lecturer once said, "...the friends you make in uni are the friends for life." True but not only uni friends, I always value my childhood friends and also friends I made along the way to where ever life has brought me. They are the best! All of us might not be able to spend the good times like we used to as we are going our separate ways in life. The luxury of freedom to choose what we want and decide what we need put us nothing near to certainty of what could happen in the future. But one thing for sure, we can always go back in time and recall all the fond memories we have shared together.

No matter how wonderful life is, it would be nothing without family. We are separated by nothing but distance and no matter how long, it never gets easier to be away from your loved ones. Wow so emo!haha it is just that I am feeling a little bit of homesick lately, but no worries because time flies! I will be home sweet home in no time =)
p/s: Papa, happy birthday!

Food for Thought

Reciprocate kindness; do not be selfish.

Stop whining, admit your wrong.

Nobody is perfect. Know your weaknesses and keep improving yourself.

I was not in a good mood when these words assembled themselves in my then chaotic mind, somehow it made me feel much much better after giving it a full thought. I hope that when I start to improve myself for the better, the people around me will follow my footsteps too. <3

Mice mice baybeh!

Guess what, I am in the final year already! I thought it might worth writing down because..erm..just a random thought since I haven't been writing for such a looong time. It is because I have been extremely busy, not just recently but it started since the mid of the third year, you know with so many assignments and reports deadlinesss to meet, presentations to follow and then there was the internship needed to be completed blah blah blah...

Anyhow, those were nothing compare to what I have to go through currently--Final Year Project (FYP in short). It is all about presentations and more presentations for both semesters in the final year with lesser formal lectures. So far I have done 3 presentations. 2 of them were group presentations, it was quite simple to accomplish as my group members are sooo co-operative (Thanks so much guys!!). The other one was an individual presentation, where all of us have to present our research proposals for our thesis, I definitely won't forget that hectic 1 week of proposal presentation and months of preparation before that. I believe everybody was terrified to wait for their turns after seeing one by one of our own gets fiery comments and mind-twisting questions from the attending lecturers after they presented their proposals (okay the lecturers sounded so mean here, actually many of us did get good comments so bravo to those who managed that!).

So regarding the title for my post today, it has something to do with my FYP. Basically I will be assessing the antimalarial property of a phytochemical called curcumin. So the mice will play a very vital part here, as I would need their blood in order to obtain malaria-infected red blood cells. Now hold on animal activists! I might sound like I am hurting these animals but before they are handed to us, we are required to go through a tedious procedure called the Animal Ethics where the authorised personnels will provide a course to train us on how to handle the animals professionally. I am yet to undergo this course however, but I will be in exactly 1 week from now! Damn nervous now as I would have to present my proposal again to all 12 "zealous" members of the Animal Ethics Committee. This time around it will be focusing on the research methodology where the mice are involved. **fingers-crossed that they will approve my project, because rumour has it they are 10x worse when it comes to punching the undergrades with no mercy**

EQUINOX

Okay, I saw this interesting questionnaire from my bestie's blog, Aby. Basically I need to put the music player into shuffle mode and then answer the question according to the song title it played at the moment. So just press next-lah to answer the next question.

The songs are taken from my "study songs" playlist, and they consist of the tracks from my favourite artists and bands. I got songs from Rihanna's latest album "Talk That Talk", Neon Trees' "Habits", 30 Seconds to Mars' "30 Seconds To Mars", "A Beautiful Lie", and "This Is War", Avril Lavigne's "Goodbye Lullaby", and last but not least Bruno Mars' "Doo Wops and Hooligans". (by the way which girl won't fall for Bruno Mars' mellow voice and catchy lyrics right? :P)

IF SOMEONE SAYS 'ARE YOU OKAY' YOU SAY?
Do Ya Thang - Rihanna
(huh???)

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Avril Lavigne
(the lyrics in this song somehow make me feel like they are trying to convey a sense of depression, hmm so totally doesn't describe me :D)

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL
Night of the Hunter (Flood Remix) - 30 Seconds to Mars
(agak ganas hahaha....)

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
What the Hell (Acoustic version) - Avril Lavigne
(kind of, I am home alone while typing this post so what the hell I'm very bored!!!)

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE?
Marry You - Bruno Mars
(gosh! this is very funny!!!)

WHAT'S YOUR MOTTO?
Liquor Store Blues Ft. Damian Marley - Bruno Mars
(arghhhh I am not an alcoholic!!!!)

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU?
100 Suns - 30 Seconds to Mars
(so I'm guessing my friends think I'm hot hahahahaha pardon me for being so vain, but the lyrics in this song is very nice and I particularly like this one "I believe in nothing, but the truth in who we are".)

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?
Wish You Were Here - Avril Lavigne
(awww...sorry Papa and Mama for not being able to go back home for this year's CNY :'( )

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT VERY OFTEN?
Edge of the Earth - 30 Seconds to Mars

WHAT IS 2 + 2?
1983 - Neon Trees
(so ngam-lah this one, I like I like!)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIEND?
We All Want Love - Rihanna
(I bet everybody wants love, who doesn't :) )

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY?
Welcome to the Universe - 30 Seconds to Mars

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
Red Lipstick - Rihanna
(ngahaha this is hilarious, maybe I should try out to wear red lipstick some time)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
Our War - Neon Trees

WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?
Smile - Avril Lavigne :)))))

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?
Where Have You Been - Rihanna
(lol...I'm sure I won't be running around anymore =_=''')

WHAT IS YOUR HOBBY/INTEREST?
Sins of My Youth - Neon Trees
(I wonder what are the sins of my youth hmmm~)

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?
This Is War - 30 Seconds to Mars
(yeah, war is definitely terrifying)

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET?
Stranger in a Strange Land - 30 Seconds to Mars

WHAT DO YOU WANT RIGHT NOW?
Year Zero - 30 Seconds to Mars

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS?
Hunter - 30 Seconds to Mars

WHAT'S THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN?
Black Star - Avril Lavigne
(probably the worst thing, because how are we going to see the star if it is black right?)

 HOW WILL YOU DIE?
Bad Reputation - Avril Lavigne
(O.M.G I'm going to die with a bad reputation???!!!)

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU REGRET?
Watch n' Learn - Rihanna

WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH?
Fool in Love - Rihanna
(not sure if this is even laughable eh?)

WHAT MAKES YOU CRY?
A Modern Myth - 30 Seconds to Mars

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE?
Goodbye - Avril Lavigne
(huh? how do I change a goodbye ya?)

WHAT HURTS RIGHT NOW?

(I don't even want to know what's in the next room okay)

WHAT WILL YOU POST THIS AS?

First post in 2012!

Fifth semester is officially over! I finished my last paper earlier yesterday, which was the paper for the long awaited killer subject--Immunology. Sigh~ my lecturer surely knows how to zealously torture her students as this subject made me went through a sleepless night, I went to bed around 12 a.m. the night before and ended waking up at 5 a.m. feeling terrible and  damn nervous to face the questions that were going to come out (and not forgetting feeling extra hungry as well, probably because I consumed more energy than usual studying until the very last minute *guilty*). Other than that, waking up at 5 a.m. is quite strange for me. In fact this was the first time I ever did that since I entered uni (so, WOW! hahaha...).

Well people always say "save the best for the last", so I guess my lecturer indeed saves the best torture for her students on the very last day of our examination (what more can I say, well done to her! :P). I felt a huge sense of relief when the invigilator finally announced that we can submit the answer sheets.
Hence the new worry surfaces after the examination is over. In the coming weeks I will be frantically waiting for my result to come out, wondering how it is going to turn out. Anyhow I just hope that I will pass all subjects *fingers crossed*, because the last thing I want to do is re-taking the paper! I believe nobody wants that, right?

Thus in order to avoid me from driving myself crazy, I figured I could use some distractions to get me away from becoming an over-thinking freak. Let me be vain here by assuming that you read my previous post regarding my flight ticket. Hmmm so yeah, I will be stranded here in KL for the next 3 weeks despite having a 1-month long of semester break, and some more Chinese New Year happens to fall during this time arghhhhhh...! (by now I am already 3 years straight being away from home during this festivity). Okay calm down now silly girl, hence my oh-so-free time I plan to have a glorious TV series marathon. I already have several TV series in line, "Chuck" "The Vampire Diaries" "How I Met Your Mother" and "Bones" to name a few :D. I hope these will be enough to keep myself occupied.

Highlights of 2011 (Part II)

It is already towards the end of 2011!!! And this is the first time ever that my study week falls on this time of the month. Christmas had already passed with lecture notes in my hands (yes indeed, I did my revision on that very day) and I have a feeling that on new year's eve and day  I will do the same as well (or I might just end up sleeping earlier or
being annoyed by the exploding sounds of the fireworks arghhh!).

So, before I burrow myself deep into my study mode lets check out the second part of 2011 highlights! (yippie~)
Recalling~ recalling~ yes! Now I remember, I went to quite a few places in Peninsular Malaysia, along with my course mates. The first one is the historical city of Malacca.
From left: Chloe, Florence, Stephanie, (me), Cecilia, Ai Ting and Ray.

Another pose with Ray.
Too bad the church was not opened on that day, so we could not pay a visit to see inside :(

After we took enough photos at the area around the church, we continued the journey to see around Malacca, by feet! Because the places in Malacca town are just within walking distance but the heat was just unbearable!!! And then it was the time for lunch, and a must-try dishes in here is their chicken rice. It is so unique that the rice is clumped like a ball, only in Malacca! You can have it in two kinds of flavor--original and yam (I personally prefer the originals hihihi)
Yam flavored rice ball.
Original flavored rice ball.
Our lunch!!!

There were actually more stalls will be opened at night, but since we will head back to KL after sundown so our taste buds indulgence was very limited (should have stayed a few nights here hmmm~~~).

This is picture of a ship, which is actually a very ginormous ship and it can be found in Malacca. Easily spotted on as it can be seen from miles away when you are in the town, and this huge ship actually fits a museum inside!
We took too many photos in there that I cannot decide which ones to show here (i'm in dilemma!!!), perhaps we should just skip that part and move on to the next one and this is especially recommended to durian lovers--Malacca's version of cendol.
Super super sweet cendol, I could get diabetes if I have this everyday as my dessert :D

Even the super sweet cendol couldn't satisfy our hunger, and so we went for another food hunting adventure. This time we had nyonya laksa, curry mee and fruit rojak. The best ever!!! Did not manage to capture the photos though, because we were just so eager to eat already hahaha
However we did manage to take some photos in the restaurant, which was very nice as the air just felt so antique. In fact, most of the shops in Malacca are characterized by tonnes of antiques. Almost like you could see them in anywhere you turn (seriously!).

After a tiring trip to A'Famosa we headed off to Dataran Pahlawan, the city's shopping mall. But we did not really shop there, instead we had another must-have when you are in Malacca (i promise this is the last must-haves hahaha). We had our mouth-watering mille crepe indulgence at Nadeje.

Okay, next stops are the ever so picturesque Penang island and lovely Langkawi island! Went to these two places during my last semester break, some time in mid of July.
We stayed for two nights in Tune Hotel while we were in downtown Penang, and luckily Steph is a Penangite. So touring around this place was not a problem at all. =)
In Rapid Penang going to our hotel after we got down from the airplane.
Unpacking the stuff.
A pose at the mirror before going out!
The evening air in downtown Penang.

KOMTAR.

Curious of what we were actually looking at??? hahaha see below =)
It was actually this magnificent purple building, very pretty!
Penang is also one of the world's historical heritage besides Malacca, so it is expected to come across on antique buildings around this place, some of them are very colorful even. The pre-historical air is pretty much unavoidable here which makes picture-taking session a much more special experience! And one more thing about Penang is that you could literally find schools everywhere you go, I mean seriously!!! (no matter-lah primary school, or secondary school or old school hahaha ok, just kidding with the last one :P)

I find the name for this mini market very funny! (not trying to publicize or anything) but if you notice its name is "bu zhi dao" which means "no idea" in direct English translation. :D
KOMTAR taken at a different angle.
A memorable buffet dinner we had at this restaurant. Eat-all-you can at a very affordable price of RM23.

Damn full!!!

The next day we went to Kek Lok Si temple. Woke up early in the morning and we took the very first bus that we could get to that place. Before climbing the temple, we had a gratifying breakfast at a place some where near the temple (Penangites are so lucky, they could have delicious meals everyday! I'm so jealous!!!)
The tortoise pond, it can be found while on the way to Kek Lok Si.

Kek Lok Si has an overall of 10 stations.

Rest for a while before continuing the journey.
And then we took the cable car to go to the 10th station (phew~ luckily it was provided as we were already torn out after climbing a few stations :') ).

Striking some poses in the cable car.

We came, we saw, we conquered the 10th station!
After a quick lunch, we headed off to Penang Hill. The view of Penang from the hill was just breath-taking!

What's more could I say, the picture says it all!

First time getting henna art done on my hand =)
Everybody says "cheese~"

Our final destination in Penang was the Queensbay Mall. The picture above is the last one that we took before leaving our hotel to catch our flight to Langkawi (yeay!)
Here are some of the pics taken on the first day at Langkawi:

CHOGM

Well~ we did not really climbed the stairs haha just posing =)

Creeeeeeepy~~~

At Dataran Lang.
On the second day, we went hiking to find ourselves at the Seven Wells Waterfall (it was an impromptu hike by the way, because we had not even the least idea that the waterfall located on top of a hill!!! The slope was almost 45 degree, OMG! I couldn't even believed I actually reached the top :'). But I remember vividly how exhausted I was, and also everybody else.) After that, we went for a cable car ride which I do not recommend for those with the faint of heart. I practically screamed for the first few minutes, because I honestly never find myself soooo high from the ground in a moving cable car in my life!!! Luckily my friends manage to eventually calm me down hee~ *blushing*

Enjoying the sunset after the jaw-dropping and breath-taking cable car ride :D

No personnel was harmed during this photo shoot, including Wai Fong (she was just pretending-lah, we are not that cruel ok!)

Choc, choc and more chocs!
Last capture at the hotel lobby~ time to go back home =)

Last but not least, I would certainly love to highlight the surprise advanced birthday celebration for both me and Florence, did not expect it at all because we were having loads of assignments going on, not forgetting so many presentations to make during the final weeks of lectures. I am very thankful. And also cheerful surprise birthday wishes on my birthday from my housemates Ray (thanks for the teddy bear! hihi) and the ever so quiet Daphne, merci beaucoup!

There were less than 6 hours left before the new year by the time I publish this post, and so I hereby wish everybody a happy awesome 2012!!!
