Highlights of 2011 (Part II)

It is already towards the end of 2011!!! And this is the first time ever that my study week falls on this time of the month. Christmas had already passed with lecture notes in my hands (yes indeed, I did my revision on that very day) and I have a feeling that on new year's eve and day  I will do the same as well (or I might just end up sleeping earlier or
being annoyed by the exploding sounds of the fireworks arghhh!).

So, before I burrow myself deep into my study mode lets check out the second part of 2011 highlights! (yippie~)
Recalling~ recalling~ yes! Now I remember, I went to quite a few places in Peninsular Malaysia, along with my course mates. The first one is the historical city of Malacca.
From left: Chloe, Florence, Stephanie, (me), Cecilia, Ai Ting and Ray.

Another pose with Ray.
Too bad the church was not opened on that day, so we could not pay a visit to see inside :(

After we took enough photos at the area around the church, we continued the journey to see around Malacca, by feet! Because the places in Malacca town are just within walking distance but the heat was just unbearable!!! And then it was the time for lunch, and a must-try dishes in here is their chicken rice. It is so unique that the rice is clumped like a ball, only in Malacca! You can have it in two kinds of flavor--original and yam (I personally prefer the originals hihihi)
Yam flavored rice ball.

Our lunch!!!

There were actually more stalls will be opened at night, but since we will head back to KL after sundown so our taste buds indulgence was very limited (should have stayed a few nights here hmmm~~~).

This is picture of a ship, which is actually a very ginormous ship and it can be found in Malacca. Easily spotted on as it can be seen from miles away when you are in the town, and this huge ship actually fits a museum inside!
We took too many photos in there that I cannot decide which ones to show here (i'm in dilemma!!!), perhaps we should just skip that part and move on to the next one and this is especially recommended to durian lovers--Malacca's version of cendol.
Super super sweet cendol, I could get diabetes if I have this everyday as my dessert :D

Even the super sweet cendol couldn't satisfy our hunger, and so we went for another food hunting adventure. This time we had nyonya laksa, curry mee and fruit rojak. The best ever!!! Did not manage to capture the photos though, because we were just so eager to eat already hahaha
However we did manage to take some photos in the restaurant, which was very nice as the air just felt so antique. In fact, most of the shops in Malacca are characterized by tonnes of antiques. Almost like you could see them in anywhere you turn (seriously!).

After a tiring trip to A'Famosa we headed off to Dataran Pahlawan, the city's shopping mall. But we did not really shop there, instead we had another must-have when you are in Malacca (i promise this is the last must-haves hahaha). We had our mouth-watering mille crepe indulgence at Nadeje.

Okay, next stops are the ever so picturesque Penang island and lovely Langkawi island! Went to these two places during my last semester break, some time in mid of July.
We stayed for two nights in Tune Hotel while we were in downtown Penang, and luckily Steph is a Penangite. So touring around this place was not a problem at all. =)
In Rapid Penang going to our hotel after we got down from the airplane.
Unpacking the stuff.
A pose at the mirror before going out!
The evening air in downtown Penang.

KOMTAR.

Curious of what we were actually looking at??? hahaha see below =)
It was actually this magnificent purple building, very pretty!
Penang is also one of the world's historical heritage besides Malacca, so it is expected to come across on antique buildings around this place, some of them are very colorful even. The pre-historical air is pretty much unavoidable here which makes picture-taking session a much more special experience! And one more thing about Penang is that you could literally find schools everywhere you go, I mean seriously!!! (no matter-lah primary school, or secondary school or old school hahaha ok, just kidding with the last one :P)

I find the name for this mini market very funny! (not trying to publicize or anything) but if you notice its name is "bu zhi dao" which means "no idea" in direct English translation. :D
KOMTAR taken at a different angle.
A memorable buffet dinner we had at this restaurant. Eat-all-you can at a very affordable price of RM23.

Damn full!!!

The next day we went to Kek Lok Si temple. Woke up early in the morning and we took the very first bus that we could get to that place. Before climbing the temple, we had a gratifying breakfast at a place some where near the temple (Penangites are so lucky, they could have delicious meals everyday! I'm so jealous!!!)
The tortoise pond, it can be found while on the way to Kek Lok Si.

Kek Lok Si has an overall of 10 stations.

Rest for a while before continuing the journey.
And then we took the cable car to go to the 10th station (phew~ luckily it was provided as we were already torn out after climbing a few stations :') ).

Striking some poses in the cable car.

We came, we saw, we conquered the 10th station!
After a quick lunch, we headed off to Penang Hill. The view of Penang from the hill was just breath-taking!

What's more could I say, the picture says it all!

First time getting henna art done on my hand =)
Everybody says "cheese~"

Our final destination in Penang was the Queensbay Mall. The picture above is the last one that we took before leaving our hotel to catch our flight to Langkawi (yeay!)
Here are some of the pics taken on the first day at Langkawi:

CHOGM

Well~ we did not really climbed the stairs haha just posing =)

Creeeeeeepy~~~

At Dataran Lang.
On the second day, we went hiking to find ourselves at the Seven Wells Waterfall (it was an impromptu hike by the way, because we had not even the least idea that the waterfall located on top of a hill!!! The slope was almost 45 degree, OMG! I couldn't even believed I actually reached the top :'). But I remember vividly how exhausted I was, and also everybody else.) After that, we went for a cable car ride which I do not recommend for those with the faint of heart. I practically screamed for the first few minutes, because I honestly never find myself soooo high from the ground in a moving cable car in my life!!! Luckily my friends manage to eventually calm me down hee~ *blushing*

Enjoying the sunset after the jaw-dropping and breath-taking cable car ride :D

No personnel was harmed during this photo shoot, including Wai Fong (she was just pretending-lah, we are not that cruel ok!)

Choc, choc and more chocs!
Last capture at the hotel lobby~ time to go back home =)

Last but not least, I would certainly love to highlight the surprise advanced birthday celebration for both me and Florence, did not expect it at all because we were having loads of assignments going on, not forgetting so many presentations to make during the final weeks of lectures. I am very thankful. And also cheerful surprise birthday wishes on my birthday from my housemates Ray (thanks for the teddy bear! hihi) and the ever so quiet Daphne, merci beaucoup!

There were less than 6 hours left before the new year by the time I publish this post, and so I hereby wish everybody a happy awesome 2012!!!
